Introduction

Professor Yoshikazu Shiobara was born in Saitama Prefecture in 1973. Withdrew after obtaining credits from the doctoral program in the Graduate School of Sociology at Keio University, he got a Ph.D. in Sociology. After serving as a JSPS Postdoctral Fellow for Research Abroad (University of Sydney) and an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Foreign Studies at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, he is currently a Professor at the Faculty of Law, Keio University. His specializes are Global Sociology, Social Change Theory, and Multiculturalism Studies. He has beein conducting research on multicultural societies with a focus on Australia and Japan. His major works include 'The Way of Thinking for Living Together (Akashi-Shoten, 2025), 'Dividing Communities' (Hosei University Press, 2017), 'Sociology of Division and Dialogue' (Keio University Press, 2017), 'Living Together' (Kobundo, 2012), 'Towards Multiculturalism for Transformation' (Hosei University Press, 2010), 'Multiculturalism in the Age of Neoliberalism' (Sangensha, 2005), 'Migration Policies In Asia' (Co-Edited, Sage, 2020), 'Cultural And Social Division In Contemporary Japan' (Co-Edited, Routledge, 2019), 'Transcending Social Divisions' (Co-Edited, Seikyusha, 2017), 'The Reality of Transforming International Migration' (Co-Edited, Harvest, 2017), among others.
