Ancient Japan Through the Lens of the Ritsuryo System:
Japan in the World, and the Regions in Japan

「日本古代史、特に、中国から導入され日本独自に展開した統治システム、律令制を研究しています。地方の人々が積極的に官人身分を得て地域社会の権威を形成する過程を分析。特に東北地方の蝦夷と律令国家との交流にも注目しています。」
“I am researching ancient Japanese history with a particular interest in the Ritsuryo system, which is a governing system brought over from China and implemented in a way unique to Japan. I analyze the process in which people in the provincial regions actively sought status as government officials to form authority in local communities. In particular, I focus on the interaction between the Emishi people in the Tohoku region and the Ritsuryo state.”
